This is a "challenge" to take at least one photo every single day this year. I am joining my friend Liz (from
Paislee Press) in this little project and hopefully we will get some great shots, as well as learn more about our cameras! We are a few days late on getting started, but that's ok? No sense in waiting another whole year because we missed 10 days, right? This is the PERFECT opportunity for me to put what I've been reading into action and get more proficient with my camera. So I'm also going to try and make notations on what settings I used on my camera, what lens, and what photo effects and tools I used in Photoshop. This way, I can sort of track my progress as well as remember what settings do what. :) I'm so excited! So... here is my first photo for Project 365:
Photo Specs:
Camera: Nikon D60
*Set to Portrait
*Auto... um... everything (hopefully this will change throughout the year as I learn more about the manual settings)
*55-200mm Lens
Photo Effects:
*Photoshop Actions:
- TaylorMade: Bliss In Action (Sepia-Toned Lovin')
- TotallyRAD: Action Mix (Boutwell Magic Glasses)
*Photoshop Tools:
- Extracted the berries from the original color photo and copied them onto a new layer, then ran the actions on the photo below and merged the 2 layers.

Wonderful Shot Amanda! The contrast of the images lends to so much drama and the cranberries just pop out at you. Great!

Are you kidding me? Do you set your camera to auto - with all the gorgeous photos you've been taking? Anyway - in that case I'm really really looking forward to seeing all the marvellous photos you'll get after you move on!
In case you haven't heard of the book; I recommend 'Understanding Exposure' by Bryan Peterson. This is a great book to read for getting to understand how to use the camera!

NO WAY! Arya... that's the exact book i'm reading!!! hahahaha. how funny! i have been RAVING about it all over the forums and to everyone i know who has a camera! it's literally the VERY first photography book i've ever read that makes sense. that's awesome! lol.

Amanda, I just wanted to thank you for your inspiration to go ahead with Project 365 even though I am behind. I did a POTD for December and it was wonderful therapy for me. Thanks!

I love the red in the sepia! I'm also glad to know that someone else has to use the auto settings too!! lol!! (I am just learning my first SLR camera.) That's such a great idea to include the settings! :)
